CM A Revanth Reddy Directs Swift Completion of Paddy Procurement and Prepares for Farmers’ Festival in Mahabubnagar
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed district collectors and other officials to expedite the paddy procurement process to ensure farmers face no hurdles in selling their produce.
During a video conference on Tuesday, the CM emphasized the importance of efficiency in paddy procurement, urging officials to provide comprehensive support to farmers. He also directed that the process be completed at the earliest, with regular daily reports to monitor progress.
Basic Facilities at Procurement Centres
To ease the process for farmers, the CM insisted on the availability of all basic amenities at procurement centres. This includes ensuring the proper categorization of fine and coarse paddy varieties for separate procurement and immediate payments to farmers.
Additionally, a bonus of Rs 500 will be provided for fine paddy, further motivating farmers.
“We are prioritizing the farmers’ convenience,” said Reddy. “Paddy procurement and payments are being carried out efficiently like never before.”
Monitoring and Reporting
District collectors, in-charge ministers, and officers assigned to various districts were directed to oversee operations closely. Regular visits to procurement centres were mandated to ensure a seamless process.
The CM also instructed officials to submit daily reports detailing progress and challenges encountered during the procurement process.
To prevent delays in transportation, officials were asked to ensure adequate availability of vehicles to transport paddy from procurement centres to rice mills. Furthermore, strict action was advised against any millers indulging in irregularities.
Farmers’ Festival and Agricultural Exhibition
Looking ahead, Reddy announced plans for a grand farmers’ festival to be held in Mahabubnagar on November 30. The festival will be preceded by an agricultural exhibition from November 28 to 30, showcasing advancements in farming techniques and mechanization.
“This exhibition will include awareness programs on modern farming methods and will feature model farmers,” Reddy explained. He urged district collectors to coordinate with other officials to ensure the festival’s success and maximize farmer participation.
Commitment to Farmers’ Welfare
The Chief Minister’s focus on paddy procurement aligns with the broader goal of supporting the agricultural community. Paddy has already been harvested from 66 lakh acres in Telangana, with another 20 lakh acres pending harvest.
